Overview
Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management is designed to provide skills and further knowledge in Project Planning and Management.
The programme will ensure that developmental projects are efficiently and effectively planned and managed, and this will help in industrialization.
In addition to providing skills and knowledge, the programme is flexibly packaged to enable candidates to study while continuing in gainful employment. This not only makes the course more affordable, but also means that skills and knowledge learned can quickly be applied in the working environment and thus both learning and productivity are enhanced.
Structure
- The course shall run for a minimum of four semesters and maximum of twelve semesters of fifteen weeks each.
- The course shall consist of fourteen (14) taught course units, and a research project, which shall constitute four (4) units. A student will have taken eighteen (18) units in total.
- The course shall consist of coursework, examination and a project
- The students shall be required to take a minimum of three units and a maximum of six course units in a semester.
- Each course unit shall be taught for forty five (45) contact hours of lectures and tutorials.
- The Project shall be equivalent to four course units, and shall be undertaken during the last semester.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelors degree in any discipline with at least an Upper Division, Second Class Honors of UON or an equivalent UON recognized institution.
- Bachelors Degree in any discipline with at least a Lower Division, 2nd Class Honors with 2 years working experience.
- Bachelors Degree in any discipline with at least a Pass with three years working experience.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Senate.

Exam Regulations
Written Examination
1. All course units taken in a given Semester shall be examined at the end of that Semester.
2 .A candidate shall be required to pass in all taught course units in order to be allowed to proceed to the research project.
3. A course unit shall be examined by a written examination of three hours duration.
4. Pass mark shall be 50%.
5. Continuous Assessment Tests shall constitute 30% and the final examination 70%
6. A candidate who fails to satisfy the examiners in any unit(s), may on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners and approval of the Senate, be allowed to take up to two re-sit/retake examinations in the unit(s) failed during the ordinary examination time.
7. A pass obtained in a re-sit examination or its equivalent shall be recorded as 50%.
8. A candidate shall be discontinued if he/she fails second re-sit/re-take examination in any paper or fails to complete the programme during the prescribed duration.
Research Project
1. The pass mark for research project shall be 50%.
2. The Research Project shall be equivalent to four (4) course units. The proposal presentation shall constitute 30% and the final project shall constitute 70%.
3. A candidate who fails in Project paper shall be required to re-submit it for up to two (2) times within the prescribed period.
4. A pass obtained in a re-submitted research project shall constitute 50%.
5. A candidate who fails in the second re-submitted research project shall be discontinued.
